The Eastern Cape

Bethaven African Safaris operates from its base camp and Lodge near Cookhouse, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. As one can see from the photographs, this is one of the most breath-taking areas in Southern Africa. It is no wonder, it has become

Africa's prime Trophy Hunting ground

Our Lodges are situated 125 miles north of Port Elizabeth, and 50 miles South of Cradock in the Eastern Cape. Hunters and Tourists are accommodated in an eloquently furnished old Cape style lodge, with "double" bedrooms all en suite and oregon pine wood floors throughout.

At this mountainous Safari Lodge of 14,000 acres, we can offer trophy hunters and Tourists, the largest variety of plains game (in excess of 30 species) in the whole of the Eastern Cape region.

Animals can be observed from our game viewing vehicles, travelling on the 45 miles of road through the Southern African Bush.

This area is fast becoming a well sought after destination for hunters and tourists from all over the world, and currently captures the largest part of Africa's trophy export market.

American Hunters made up for more than half of the 7018 Trophy Hunters that visited the Eastern Cape last year, with the Spanish and the Germans taking up the second and third places respectively.

"Hunters prefer the Eastern Cape to the rest of Africa because it is Malaria Free, and has more than 30 species of indigenous game. The number of "Hunting" visitors has increased by approximately 40% per year for the last three years, and indications are that there is no change in this upward pattern."

Rich feed for the animals make this area a haven for the wild Apart from the fauna being plentiful, the flora is magnificent
